Brough Superior SS100 Titanium

Brough Superior: Rewriting the Future

Brough Superior unveils the production version of the SS100

Brough Superior has created a unique motorcycle that is very much inspired by the company’s legendary past but which is powered by the very latest, handcrafted components. Many months of
hard work have created a crowd-‐stopping machine with magnificent looks, a machine that leaves the rest of the field behind, which is miles apart.

Examples of advances in design and engineering made over the past year

New MK2 Chassis

The MK2 chassis has been redesigned, our inspiration coming from recent technological advances in the aircraft industry. It is entirely made from titanium and uses machined plates instead of
tubes. This creates much more volume, which allows for example a bigger capacity for petrol and a larger airbox, without decreased stiffness. The suspension triangles, also from titanium, have been optimized. Combining tubes and laser cut sheets they have been enlarged to bring more rigidity to the steering and damping functions. Each frame is welded in-‐house by our specialist
fabricator and is crowned with an enamel Brough Superior emblem.

Front Fork and Swing arm

The design of both components has been improved to optimize the alloy casting process. FEM studies have been made to validate stiffness and handling. The main evolution is a completely new
geometry for the steering system, bringing greater precision and stronger guidance in steering and damping.

Art Deco Brake Calipers

The brake calipers have been designed exclusively for the SS100 in the classic Brough Superior art deco style, looking sober-‐chic and refined with a machined Brough Superior logo. They are
entirely machined from a block of 6082 T6 alloy (an aluminium alloy used in aeronautics). This improved design combines lightness and stiffness and perfectly fits the front fork brackets. It’s the
first time that a 4D brake caliper has been developed for radial mounting. It is very compact and 10% lighter than a conventional radial-‐mounted caliper.

Smiths Speedometer

A special speedo has been developed exclusively for the new SS100, inspired by the iconic 5-‐inch Smiths instrument. Its large dial, combined with a really thin casing, gives an elegant sport
classic look.
This new design displays all the required information in a really simple and classic design:
- Speed on a large dial with art deco fonts
- OLED display indicating engine revolutions, trip, odometer, cooling temperature
- Integrated warning lights, which are totally discreet once illuminated to retain a classic look.

ENGINE
Tooling

All the casting moulds and machining tools have been developed for the crankcases, covers and cylinder heads. The same goes for the forging tools for con-‐rods, crankshafts and camshafts, also
for primary drives and gear boxes.

Injection System

In close collaboration with a renowned OEM supplier, a specific fuel injection system has been developed to meet Euro 3 requirements. A Euro 4 evolution is planned shortly and will be offered
as soon as available, possibly during the SS100 homologation process which will take place in the coming months. So, for example, an AIS system, consisting of air injection in the exhaust pipes
managed by the ECU, has been integrated into the cylinder head design, to help to reach emission requirements.

Forged Pistons

The SS100 forged pistons are made from aluminum alloy 2618A-‐T6A, used for high performance engines. The pistons are very high quality, produced using OEM processes and treatments:

– Forging
– Stabilisation
– Semi-‐machining operation
– Sand blasting
– Shot peening on non-‐functional areas
– Finish Machining operation
– Anti-‐friction Skirt Coating: MOLYKOTE D10

Integrated clutch caliper

The clutch caliper has been integrated into the new design of the primary drive cover, bringing greater protection to hydraulic components through an elegant slick design.

The entire SS100 is being put together with the same regard to authenticity, originality and matchless quality.

FINISHES

The new SS100 will be offered in 3 different finishes, combining many specific details to offer three really different Brough Superior models, thereby offering Brough Superior customers a choice
of finishes to reflect the kind of rider they are.

Bespoke services

Brough Superior offers a bespoke service enabling customers to own, as far as possible, a unique SS100 with the choices they want.
The Brough Superior team is happy to discuss any requirements.

Availability and price

The SS100 will be available the second half of 2015. It is a limited edition, only 300 units, and can be purchased for a factory fixed price of EUR 49, 900 (about GBP 39,900 or USD 64,000),
excluding taxes, surcharges for custom-‐made, bespoke productions or shipping charges.

Brough Superior Life Style

To accompany the launch of the SS100 Brough Superior has developed a range of riding gear that reflects the elegant sophistication of the machine. This includes helmets, jackets (wax cotton or
leather), t-shirts, polo shirts and polo‐rugby shirts. The wax cotton jackets are lined with the Brough family tartan or have Brough Superior emblazoned across the back, evoking those worn by
racers in the 1920s and 30s. The t-shirts come in several different styles. One has a large print Of T.E.Lawrence (of Arabia) who owned seven Broughs in a row. Another t-shirt celebrates Brough
Superior’s success at Bonneville, where, in 2013, Brough became a double land speed world record holder. Another has a fluttering Union Jack, reaffirming the company’s English roots. All our
products have the Brough superior name and logo. And all the textile products have a specially designed and embroidered tag, reminding owners that Brough stands for, among many other
things, beauty, elegance and speed.
